A Preliminary Survey of Salmonella Infection in House Rats in Seoul City(1968,1969)

Abstract

|
During the period from November 1968 to October 1969, Bacteriological and Seorological Studies were done for 679 house rats caught from the five areas in Seoul City. Three strains of salmonella species and 20strains of related organisms were isolated from the rat intestinal contents. One strain was agglutinated with salmonella anti group Vi and D and two strains were agglutinated with anti group C and D sera respectively. Also 20 strains were not agglutinated with salmonella anti groups A, B, C, D, E and Vi sera but biological natures were significantly related to the salmonella species.
In Widal and Weil-Felix reactions, 76(71.03 per cent) of 107 rat sera were considered as positi with higher agglutination titers than 1:10 serum dilution.
